HEVELIUS PROJECT
Today, Poland writes a new chapter in the history of space exploration – Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, a crew member of the Ax-4 mission, is embarking on his journey to the International Space Station. This is a groundbreaking moment not only for science but also for the imagination and aspirations of the younger generation.
In this unique context, we warmly invite you to take part in “Project Hevelius – Science, Culture and Community” – an international educational and cultural initiative that bridges the past and future of Polish science. The project is inspired by the legacy of the renowned Gdansk-based astronomer Johannes Hevelius and his wife Elisabeth Hevelius, a pioneering woman in astronomy.
As part of the project, we are organizing:
astronomy workshops for children and young people (with particular focus on the communities of Blackbird Leys, Rose Hill, and Barton),
initiatives to promote women in science, including the Young Women in STEM programme,
a concert and a conference in the historic spaces of Oxford.
Please find attached a sponsorship package detailing various ways you can support the project. Your engagement will help us nurture a passion for science and strengthen the ties between Poland and the United Kingdom – today and for generations to come.
If none of the sponsorship options suit your preferences, we are also happy to accept individual donations in any amount.
